Before Hockenheim was bastardised by Hermann Tilke, it had a lengthy lap that featured two epic high speed straights connected together with chicanes ending with a last-minute braking zone into the stadium section to close the lap. The above video revisits the glory days with the full-race from the 1989 500GP round at the German circuit. It’s also from a time when legends like Lawson, Schwantz, Rainey, Doohan et al rode unadulterated 500cc two-stroke machines.
